What is a faith-based organization?

Faith-Based organization is an umbrella term referring to any company or organization that exists because of their religion. Many charities (for example: Salvation Army, A Child's Hope International) are Christian faith based because of a mandate in their Scripture to "clothe the naked, feed the hungry and care for the widowed and fatherless". In the broadest sense of the term the Taliban or Al-Qaeda could be considered faith-based.
