Pangolins are solitary animals that typically come together only for mating. The female pangolin has a gestation period of about 70 to 140 days, after which she usually gives birth to a single offspring, although twins can occur in rare cases. The mother nurses her young for several months, during which the baby clings to her back while she forages for food. After a few months, the juvenile pangolin begins to explore on its own but may stay with the mother for up to a year.
