Terry Deary wrote 190 books in the UK and in 39 different languages. He was in 1996 the best selling author for five of children's novels.

Blue Peter Book Awards for 2001 and 2002 gave him the award for "Best Book of Knowledge of all Time" for his Horrible Histories Rotten Romans and Terrible Tudors.
