How many prison guards are in America?

Of the guards at a prison, all of them are employees of whatever state or regional department is in charge of prisons. Of all guards in total, a slight proportion of them are employed at prisons; others work at jails (which are not the same thing), banks, some clubs, consulates and other areas where security in person is required.
