The longest were the ships of the Queen Elizabeth class (British) at 645 ft. long. However, at 31, 400 long tons (empty) the Pennsylvania class (American) displaced more but they stayed in the U.S. during the war. Also there were many passenger ships that both outweighed and were longer than either of the 2 classes stated previously.
