Why don't big rigs use disk brakes?

Some do. although the primary reason that more don't is that disc brakes weigh a lot more than drums, as well they do cost a lot more. The more weight you have the less you can haul. In my opinion discs are more reliable and provide better safety than drums, but it is hard to argue with economy.
