Pretend play in playgroup could take place when the children talk to toys or objects and they make up games and characters. It is known as imaginative play as well. The equipment used for pretend and imaginative play are dressing up clothes, hats, shoes, glasses, bags, a plastic coated mirror for children to look at themselves in and other accessories. Discovery play in a school may take place when children are exploring new materials and textures. They will enjoy creating their own by collecting things like toilet roll, brushes, stones, sticks, string, bottles and all sorts of things. Physical play in a soft play area may take place when the children are running around and playing chase, throwing balls, catching them and climbing through things.
