How does Alberto Moravia's The chase and Anton Chekhov's lady with lapdog set to correct their societies of social and moral ills in all sense of the word?

They don't. Speaking specifically of Chekhov, it is well documented that he intended for no judgment to be passed regarding his writing.

As far as the pieces themselves go, however, I think something along the lines of: These pieces call for a move back to a more primitive state before the obligations of marriage were put in a place, a state where people can choose to love who they want to love and not fear the social or moral judgments that they would suffer from their peers in modern society.

That would probably work. Why is this in African-American History though?
