What is a true stem?

A true stem is a part of a plant that serves as the main support structure, typically connecting the roots to the leaves and flowers. It is characterized by its ability to grow vertically, bearing leaves, buds, and reproductive structures. Unlike other plant parts, a true stem contains vascular tissues (xylem and phloem) that facilitate the transportation of water, nutrients, and sugars throughout the plant.
