More informationOk here is a little background for you. the car is a 1998 eclipse GS with about 175000 miles on it. It is a manual transmission, a 4 liter DOHC engine basically a Dodge neon engine in it i believe its a 440a. I just replaced the tie bars and now i am working on the engine. I was told when i purchased the car that there might be a head gasket problem. since i had alot of people who work on cars i figured no problem. well we cant figure it out. here are the details..
slight smoke from exhaust when shifting
no leaks or puddles from either oil or anti freeze
eating through antifreeze and oil rather quickly
when sitting and shifting over a long period of time white smoke is more present.
no smoke while driving
I have had a mechanic check it out they ran tests and flushed the systems and put in a heavier grade of oil the smoke is going away but i want the complete problem to vanish. the car just had a full tune up, now please keep in mind I am not sure how well the last person took care of this car, i know that they did the standard oil changes but that's all I know.
please help i love my summer car and really want to drive it.
