Grits are typically made from corn. As commonly prepared, they are fairly high in iron (8% of your USDRA - good) but high in sodium and carbs (22% and 10%).

Potatoes are low in sodium, and high in carbs (including 26% of your USDRA for dietary fiber). They are also a rich source of Vitamin C in addition to iron.
