What happened on 9 11?

Some al-Qaeda terrorists hijacked 4 planes intending to crash them into major landmark buildings. One plane each into the north and south World Trade Center towers and The Pentagon. The fourth was most likely targeting the Capital or The White House but instead crashed into a field in Pennsylvania when the passengers fought back after realizing their fate.
