What were k-rations?

K-rations were a type of military field ration developed by the United States during World War II, designed for use by soldiers in combat situations. Each K-ration package contained three main components: a breakfast, lunch, and dinner meal, along with complementary items like cigarettes and Chewing Gum. The rations were compact, lightweight, and intended to provide essential nutrients and calories while being easy to carry. K-rations were eventually replaced by other types of rations as military needs evolved.
