What is periosteal osteosarcoma?

PeriOSteal osteosarcoma is a type of bone cancer that arises from the periOSteum, a dense layer of connective tissue surrounding bones. It typically occurs in the long bones of adolescents and young adults and is characterized by a distinctive growth pattern on imaging studies. This tumor is considered a variant of osteosarcoma and generally has a better prognosis compared to other forms of osteosarcoma, though it still requires prompt diagnosis and treatment.
