How long take to prepare a well done hamburger?

The length of time a hamburger will take to cook depends on its thickness and cooking method. Thinner burgers will cook more quickly, whereas thicker burgers will take longer.

If you have a 1/3 lb patty 4" across of even thickness and a hot grill, you can cook for 5-6 min on each side for an overcooked hamburger (also called "well done" in restaurants).
