Germany was defeated and declared unconditional surrender on May 7, 1945, this is known as Victory in Europe (VE) Day. However, the Second World war continued because Japan continued to fight. However after the U.S. dropped the atomic bombs Hiroshima and finally Nagasaki Japan declared unconditional surrender on August 14, 1945, known as Victory in Japan (VJ) Day, and the end of the Second World War.
