Why is rental car cost included in auto insurance quote?

Rental cost coverage is an option that can be added to an auto insurance policy. It is your choice whether or not it is included unless your state legislature has decided this for you and demanded it be included. I am not aware of any state that has such a law but that does not mean it does not exist. When issuing a quote for someone I will try to understand their needs and make suggestions. In a case where there are the same number of drivers as vehicles and all work or go to school I may quote rental car coverage as well as towing and labor but I always make it clear that it is their choice and show the cost as well. The same with different policy limits.
