Is it normal for a surgical clips to be left in after surgery?

Not always. A woman I know had so many gallstones that they had to cut into her liver (to remove the common bile duct), and they left two surgical clips (Titanium, so they won't rust) on her liver for support. She's had it there since 1988, with no problems.

However, I think you should talk to your doctor about it if it bothers you. You should have been informed about them.
