What are the benefits of patriotism?

Perceived superiority so that one can feel powerful by connecting themselves to the achievements and alleged values of their nation. I guess it also helps to win wars, but the truth is that it purely has no benefits -- just like believing Apples are better than grapes hasn't any benefits.
