Why are Home sapiens so successful on earth?

We, homo sapiens that is, are highly adaptable and as a result, can live in most climates on the Earth. However, we are just as suseptable to an Extiction Level Occurance like an asteroid hitting the Earth as the Dinos were 65 million years ago. But some of us may actually survive due to the bomb shelters and other facilities that have been build to protect humans from nukes.

What makes us so successful? In part our adaptability but also our ability to manipulate our environment and the earth around us. We invented farming, animal husbandry, food storage, and genetic modification of food to make even more food. Our success is based on our science.
