In geography what does relief mean and why is it so?

A Relief in Geography shows changes in elevation over a given area of land.

Relief describes the height (how high up the area is), the aspect (the direction in which a slope faces), the shape (what shape the land looks like) and the slope(how steep the slopes are) of an area.
