How do animals depend upon plants?

Animals depend upon plants to produce oxygen (photosynthesis), to absorb carbon dioxide (plant respiration), and as a food source.

Even animals that eat other animals (carnivores) depend on plants as a food source, as that is likely what their prey eat to survive.
