Bed sores are caused by a lack of movement from the effected area period. Turn the person at least every two hours to prevent such sores. However, since this has obviously not been done, you will need to turn the person every hour until healed. If the sore is on any limb, use pillows and continue to turn/rotate person side to side until healed. Protein or nitrogen balance is more important in wound healing period. Cleansing of the wound with sterile water is recommended. Use a syringe to irrigate the wound. Clean bandage and non-adhesive tape after irrigation. Do this at least twice a day. ABO therapy-Anti biotic therapy (Ointment) after irrigation when dry is a good idea. Vitamin E alone in excess is no panacea to wound care. Proper nutrition in general works well along with these suggestions. Vitamin E prevents scarring from what I understand about Vit. E. Excessive vit. E outside of RDA guidlines has proven nothing. A multivitamin is a good idea if proper nutrition can not be obtained. These are suggestions and should not be construed as medical advise without confirming my suggestions with a qualified medical professional which I am not. However, I have dealt with such sores in hospitals and nursing homes and my suggestions are relevant to your question.
