When was ununoctium synthesized?

Ununoctium, element 118, was first synthesized in 2002 by a team of Russian and American scientists at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research in Dubna, Russia. It was created by bombarding californium-249 atoms with calcium-48 ions.
