The history of the cell actually dates from the 1930's police radiOS. The first prototype cell was made in 1947, but it wasn't until 1974 that Dr. Martin Cooper made a cell phone for Motorola. This was used by the government until 1984 when the first cell phones were sold to the public. The service was very poor , expensive to use , and calls were often dropped. Cell towers had to be built and networks created.
