A:There are many reasons for some people having higher levels of religiOSity than others, even with very similar family backgrounds and early religious tuition. For example, some people are more self-sufficient and have no need for religiOSity. Others are more inquiring and more likely to come to conclusions that there is no God. Group mentality can override these expressions of individuality. If a closely knit group of people develops a strong sense of religious belief, then peer pressure is likely to maintain that religiOSity, even across generations. Sometimes a single, charismatic person can persuade an entire group towards or away from religiOSity.
