Libertarians are generally described as being socially left and financially right meaning they favor individual freedoms like legalizing marijuana and support gay marriages, while decentralizing and reducing the size of government. Although there is diversity in the libertarian party, many also believe that the military should be used in defense of the US, not as the world's police force.
