Why do Muslim funerals support the bereaved?

Being kind, caring, charitable and compassionate to all humans in general, and to the bereaved in particular is obligatory on each Muslim. The bereaved family can't take care of the guests who come to them from distant places to express their sympathy with that family. Thus it is the duty of the near relatives and neighbours to support that family.
