Most plants require an inch to an inch and a half of water per week. Many variables including wind speeds, humidity, rainfall, and air temperatures and the consistantcy of your soil can cause this to vary greatly! When the soil feels dry to your touch an inch or two into the ground it is time to water. A deep watering is more beneficial than a shallow or short watering period after plants are established. When trying to germinate seeds, many short waterings are more beneficial and you would naturally migrate to longer more infrequent waterings to encourage root growth and strength.
