A civil war is a war between two factions within the same country.

The Cold War was the name give to the stand-off between the Soviet Union and the West. It nearly flared-up into a Hot War, especially when there was tension in Cuba and Berlin at the same time in 1962. But in the end, the Iron Curtain came down peacefully in 1989.
