Why do people think they are cool by bullying?

They usually only think it makes them cool when they have sympathizers backing them up, or when others laugh at the pain they inflict on others.

Of course, it isn't always about being cool, but more about letting off steam or feeling powerful at another's expense. They may feel brave, but generally when around a group.
