Wiring diagram century battery charger

I had the same problem. After many years my much loved Century charger failed.

You cannot get parts for the older charger. All I did was to locate the 12 volt output

wires of the secondary of the transformer and connected them to the terminals of

two newly purchased Radio Shack rectifiers. The output going to plus and minus

alligator clips. Your breaker is probably in the primary circuit. You cant believe how

simple a charger is. Most of the circuits are embellishments and can be eliminated.

Do the same thing with the 2 volt out put of the transformer. Eliminate the battery

booster circuit. It is something waiting to go wrong. Dont throw away your old

Century battery charger. It has a heavy duty transformer and a thick heavy duty

cabinet. Wal Mart type chargers are not worth the powder to blow them up. Once

you have simplified the circuit it will be easy to service and more dependable. If

you cant find the wires mentioned get a qualified technician to help you. You will

be glad you did not throw away that Century charger. It is worth its weight in

gold. The auto charge section is salesmanship. When the current no longer

drops, your battery is charged. Also, get rectifiers double that required.
