Besides the Olympics, the three other major competitions held in ancient Greece were the Pythian Games, the Nemean Games, and the Isthmian Games. The Pythian Games were held in Delphi in honor of Apollo and included musical and poetic contests alongside athletic events. The Nemean Games took place in Nemea and were also dedicated to Zeus, featuring similar athletic competitions. The Isthmian Games, held near Corinth, celebrated Poseidon and included various sports and artistic performances.
