A really great question! The Book of Predictions was a book published in 1980, written by David Wallechinsky, Amy Wallace, and Irving Wallace. It was a collection of predictions by great thinkers and is required reading by anyone who wants to study the art of prediction. Even a few years later it was wildly wrong. Most of the authors predicted that the communists would conquer the world by 2000. Get a used copy on Amazon if you can.
Another person to read up on is Ray Kurzweil, who writes about the coming "singularity" about 2025 or so, when computers become conscious.
