Who invented e-commerce?

E-commerce is the organised buying and selling of good and services through automated electronic transactions completed over telecom networks. Most e-commerce is online shopping but there is a significant amount of e-commerce that is not online shopping. Online shopping was invented in 1979 by Michael Aldrich, the English inventor. The inventors of the various other types of e-commerce are not known.
