The very definition of what is considered a "port" can vary, as well as the period of time they were considered "standard."

Ports found on almost all current computers:

Headphone / speaker jack

Microphone jack

Ethernet Jack

eSATA port

FireWire port

Ports found on older computers, and some newer ones:

Parallel port (sometimes called LPT1 / 2)

Serial ports (sometimes called COM 1 - 4)

PS/2 ports (one for mouse, one for keyboard)
