You should be able to consume alcohol of any type after your weight loss surgery. That won't be the real issue.

What type of surgery you have will determine how you process the alcohol. If you have the standard gastric bypass, alcohol will not have a chance to be broken down in your stomach prior to being absorbed by the intestines resulting in becoming accidentally very drunk very quickly.

Take alcohol consumption as a very serious matter until you have become familiar with the way it affects you and even then, you should probably just play it safe and take a cab home if you are planning on having more than one standard drink.
