The bird known for its remarkable ability to fly straight up for extended distances is the common swift. Swifts can reach altitudes of around 10,000 feet (approximately 3 miles) during their impressive aerial displays, but there are reports of them flying even higher, up to 20,000 feet (about 7 miles) in certain conditions. Their agile flight and exceptional stamina make them one of the highest-flying birds.
