Why did printed books once was named inferior?

Printed books were once considered inferior because they were seen as mass-produced, lacking the personal touch and craftsmanship of hand-copied manuscripts. Additionally, some feared that the mass dissemination of printed material would lead to a loss of control over information and ideas.
