You cannot prevent you and your boyfriend moving forward in your relationship purely because you have been hurt in the past. No guy is the same as another, so just because some one else broke your heart, doesn't mean this one is going to.

This man is promising to never hurt you and love you, and from the sound of it, he really means what he's saying! He has spent money on a ring (although, if you truly feel that you would be better with someone else, don't stay with him because of the money he has spent, as he can always return the ring).
