Why would a 2000 Nissan Xterra be popping fuses and the engine be stalling?

There has been a recall on Nissan Xterra 98-03 that the fuel pump terminal on the fuel sending unit can develop a crack in the plastic molding. Thus causing corrosion causing the fuel pump to stop operation. This causes the engine not being able to start or causse the engine to stop running without warning, which can result in a crash.
