Does technology create more problems than it solves?

Some people think so, and yearn for an earlier time, with horse-drawn carriages and no indoor Plumbing... I'm not one of them though. I think that technology makes our lives better more than it makes our lives worse. Just the single change of being able to easily communicate with people all over the world has made us better. Education reaches more people. The average person has access to SO much more information... and yeah, it is a mish-MASH, but that is why we have search engines and sites that try to answer specific questions.

If you look at Science Fiction, which is largely based on people's technological views of the future, you find that people take sides... will technology eventually destroy us, or will it eventually save us? ... Or, will it have very little to do with saving us or destroying us, because it is the nature of man that is our problem AND our salvation. ... It's an Excellent question, but there aren't easy answers. Personally, I think that technologies (like the wheel, like the Gutenberg press, like gigantic farm machines that can do the work of hundreds...) continue to help us every day. ... And yeah, they can be used for evil. But they can also be used for good. :) It is up to each of us, individually, to make the good choices... and thus solve our problems as a society, instead of blaming them of anyone or anything else.

Quality of Life vs Nature's Norm

Most technology (even a "green" wind turbine) requires changes to the environment that can be harmful to nature. It can also affect the quality of life for humans : less green space, polluted air and water, and so forth. However, living "in harmony" with nature would mean a very limited human population, primitive transportation, few modern amentities, increased susceptibility to natural disasters, and even a shorter lifespan because of limited medical advances. Technology, or "civilization", has many benefits for human existence.
