Who invented that all living things are made up of tiny cells?

The cell theory, stating that all living things are made up of cells, was developed by Theodor Schwann and Matthias Schleiden in the mid-19th century. Rudolf Virchow later added the concept that cells can only arise from pre-existing cells, completing the foundation of modern cell Biology.
