Why did panfilo de narvaez explorer?

Panfilo de Narvaez explored the Gulf Coast of North America in the early 16th century in search of wealth and land. He was hoping to find riches such as gold and silver as well as opportunities for colonization and conquest on behalf of the Spanish Crown.
