What is a large territory called?

Designations of area don't follow a strict hierarchy. One man's "yard" may be bigger than another's "field." Many territories are named for the kind of governmental unit that oversaw them, this we might have barony, march, county, dukedom, shire, oblast, prefecture, department, satrapy, khanate, township or parish. General Words include region, tract, trace and spread.
