Procedure to remove low beam bulb.

First unplug the electrical connector from the bulb ( white plastic plug with two wires). There is a round black rubber boot with two tabs covering the back of he bulb and assembly. This can be firmly puled straight off. This will expose the back of the bulb and the little metal clip ( looks like a bent up paper clip). Push the clip down and away from the bulb. Your bulb and assembly will now come straight out(note the position of your fingers when you remove the bulb and assembly). DO NOT reposition the bulb and assembly in your hand as this will make it harder to reinstall. Note that the bulb you pulled out is actually the bulb and the holder. Holder is black in color and bulb sits on that. Connectors of holder and the bulb are placed 90 deg apart. If you look at the new bulb and the holder+bulb assembly you just pulled out, you will figure out what I am saying here. Just pull the old bulb straight out of the assembly and insert the new one ( do not touch the new one with your fingers!!!, hold it with a paper towel or clean tissue). Insert the new bulb and assembly back into the headlight noting your finger positions are the same as when you pulled it out. Re-clip the clip ( push it in and move it toward the bulb to clip). Clean the the rubber boot and press it back into position. Install electrical connector. Try out your new light ( bulb is about $15) Lexus want $100 to do this.

DO Not remove the metal clip out from the headlight assembly by removing any screws. Push the small end of the clip down a bit (towards the front of the car and not towards ground) to release; once released just lift that end up; other end will not be coming out of the headlight assembly. The action is very similar to opening a simple cloth safety pin.

Drivers side bulb.... need to remove battery. Not so on passenger side bulb. When "reclipping the clip" look in advance where the clip needs to go because you cant see what you are doing with your hands in the way. You do not have to push too hard on the "paperclip"clip to reinstall it. Basic Bulb $8.00 at any auto parts store. There is a second bulb type also... HID I think...high intensity discharge, $80.00.... for those who made the "mistake" of upgrading their headlights.
