Is a dictator a monarchy

A dicator does not have to be a monarch. They are not the same thing, although a monarch can act as a dictator by their actions. Monarchs usually pass on their leadership by birthright. A dictator will often seize power through a coup and then exercise all the power, controlling everything. Some monarchs may do that too, but most have others that help to run the country, and many are just the head of state and take no major part in the day to day running of the country.
