What are the similarities and differences between tort law and law of contract?

1.in contract duties are fixed by parties. In torts duties are imposed by law. 2. Contracts necessiates privity between parties which is not needed to maintain an action in tort. 3. In contracts duty is owed to parties(specific persons). In tort duty is owed to society at large. 4. Contract damages for breach may be liquidated or unliquidated.
