The state fair is currently at a location that includes roughly 150 acres of land. Approximately 50 acres of that is unusable due to railroad tracks running through the property. The state fair board is wanting to move the fair to another venue due to the limited availability of the land and because the property on which it is held now is in desperate need of serious maintenance. There is very little parking. The overflow parking is nothing but a dirt field that sucks the cars in and people end up having to call wreckers to pull them out. The buildings are also in need of repair. The estimate for the repairs total over 50 million dollars. These reasons are just a few among many affecting the decision to move to another venue.
