What is the official tree of Tokyo Japan?

The Gingko is the official tree of Tokyo, the largest city and capital of the Japanese archipelago.

Specifically, the Japanese name is "ginnan." The Latin name for the tree is Ginkgo biloba. The tree is also called the Maidenhair Tree because of the resemblance of its leaves to parts of the Maidenhair fern (Adiantum capillus-veneris). It has an ancient history and is not closely related to any other existing species of tree.
